2 trips to the US, the NZ Petfood show and an Ironman!

2026 has gone off with a bang so far!

I had a trip to the US to meet a customer, another destination ticked off my list. This was an epic trip for APAC and great for me personally in terms of professional development as well.

Vincent has just attended Natural Product Expo West in Anaheim. Another eye opener for APAC in how big this market really is and the connections that you make are absolutely key.

Nat and Sam attended the NZ Petfood show in Christchurch a couple of weeks ago. it was great to reconnect with many of our current customers and suppliers, but also to put faces to names of those of you we hadn't met in person. Sam got up on stage with a wee blurb about APAC. No singing yet, one year I will get him to! ��

I also completed my 5th Ironman last week in Taupo. The weather was on point and I enjoyed my day out of the office! �� 2nd in my age group so pretty happy with that.

The NZ petfood market is looking stronger again and we are excited to be increasing our supply options around the country.

Our wholesale NZ Grass Fed Bovine Organ Powders are now stocked in the US and are gaining traction.

The next quarter looks super promising for APAC, it's customers and suppliers. Let's go!

APAC goes to Vegas!

APAC exhibits at SupplySide Global 2025

Sam, Vincent and Jacob have recently returned from exhibiting at the SupplySide Global show in Las Vegas. It was a fleeting visit with the boys only being in Vegas for 72 hours! However, they did squeeze in a trip to the Hoover Dam, which was incredible by all accounts, there’s just nothing to that scale in NZ.

SSG has been a big focus for APAC for a few months now; many planning meetings, designing show material, samples preparation and of course checking where your passport is every couple of weeks in case it grew legs! ��

Vincent and Sam were in awe, “crazy” was their favourite descriptive word of everything they were seeing. An indoor mall that had a fake blue sky and clouds moving past overhead – crazy, the size of the show – crazy, the size of the opportunities – crazy!

We knew we had to put everything into this trip to ensure a return on investment and the mahi paid off bigtime. We are stoked to have taken the risk to exhibit at Supply Side Global 2025.

Normally the run into the festive period can be a bit of a wind down but not for APAC, we are on full steam ahead prepping to hit 2026 running.

NHPNZ Summit learnings

Sam and Vincent attended the Natural Health Products of New Zealand Summit in the grand Christchurch Town Hall. It was APAC's first time attending this show, so the team went in with their eyes wide open to take in as much as they could.

Vincent's takeaways were what a great networking opportunity it was, the industry updates were full of information and the positive outlook from the Kiwibank economist.

Sam's takeaways were creating new and exciting connections, and the excellent interpretation by the economist of the future of our economy.

An intersting fact they learnt was that India and Phillippines are the top 2 countries to provide skilled migrants to NZ's workforce.

1 year at APAC Ingredients! ��

It feels like only yesterday that I was walking into my new office with some trepidation.

Had I made the right choice going away from Tourism and Retail?

What would I do if I didn't like it?

Did I really think I could do something so different?

What if I didn't get on with the boss?

I'm sure we have all been there. . .

I needn't have worried! It has been an absolute blast and has gone so quickly.

I wanted a challenge, a change of scenery and to be part of building a business up, and I certainly got that. I continue to learn everyday, problem solve and find new ways of looking at things. I've stepped outside my comfort zone a few times, which only helps with my development.

The team has expanded again since I started and we have gelled really well. There's nothing better than going to work without any negative connotations to it.

To put some stats to our growth in the past year - Last month I processed 300% more orders than I did in June last year!

We have progressed from just Petfood and moved into the Nutraceutical market, which has been eye opening with the changes going on in the world.

Here's to another year onwards and upwards with APAC.

NZPFA show

Round up of the NZPFA show in Auckland

At the end of February, Sam, Vincent and I attended the NZ Pet Food Association show in Auckland. For Vincent and I, it was the first time we have attended it and it was so good to meet so many people and put faces to names.

Sam, being the "old" hat in the group, got up on stage and did a little speech as part of our Platinum Sponsorship of the show. He absolutely nailed it, I reckon.

This was a great eye opener for me personally, as I am still new to the industry and being able to go and talk at length with some of our customers, in a relaxed environment was invaluable. Seeing some of the friendships, not just business relationships, that have formed at this conference over the years was great to see as well.

I attended the banquet on my own on Thursday night and was lucky enough to be welcomed with open arms to a table. They soon found out I was off to get married in Hawaii from the conference and very kindly offered to make the night my Hen Party! Legends. I love that this is the industry I am in now.

All in all, a successful show and a lot of fun. I look forward to the next one. Nat

A busy run into the Christmas break for the APAC team

It's been a busy December for Team APAC, as some of you may have seen, I headed off to the Ironman 70.3 World Championships in Taupo last week. It was an absolute blast and Taupo turned on the weather! Stoked with my 24th place in my Age Group in the world. I'm now looking forward to the Christmas break with friends and family before cracking into the New Year with APAC and achieving some big goals. ��

Whilst I was off competing, Sam and his wife were welcoming their 2nd child into the world! Congrats to Sam, Heidi and Billie! What a Christmas present for them.

We hope all our customers, processors and suppliers enjoy their well earned break and we look forward to working with you all in 2025!

Nerves

Nerves. I haven’t felt nerves like this since I did my first Ironman 5 years ago and certainly haven’t felt them at work for a very long time! I must be doing something new and awesome.

The Natural Health Products NZ show at the Due Drop Centre in Auckland is the reason I am nervous. We are exhibiting for the first time and my first time at a show too!

We have realised that we have some great raw materials that fit perfectly into this market and what better way to grow the company than to branch into a new market. As Sam mentioned previously we decided to coincide our rebranding with entering the Natural Health Products market. A lot of work but boy, does it look great.

As we started setting up, all the questions starting popping into my head - Had I remembered everything? Had I creased the banners when I packed them away? Did the tablecloth look ok and fit the table?

But I needn’t have worried as the stand looked mint.

There were some great speakers throughout the day and we met with plenty of potential new customers, which was obviously the goal of the day.

Top 3 things I learnt from the day –

Don’t take extra food, there is heaps there!

These shows are intense, so a wander outside in fresh air is good at points throughout the day.

I don’t need to be nervous next time.

Next up the NZPFA show in February. Bring it on!

November 2024 marks a huge milestone for APAC Ingredients

November 2024 marks a huge milestone for APAC Ingredients. Midway through the year, we felt there had been a shift in both our offering as well as our end target markets. This in turn, led us to the decision to update not only our strategic direction but also the whole look and feel of the company.

The NZ sourced Raw Material has become a huge point of difference for us and we wanted to reflect this in our new branding. We approached Vanilla Hayes who immediately picked up what we were putting down and have been instrumental in guiding us through this transition of focus.

With the new branding being rolled out w/c 18th November 2024 along with attending our first NZ Health Products Innovation Expo, this is a new and improved APAC Ingredients and we cannot wait to continue to share our expertise in both the pet food and now, the nutraceutical spaces!
